Mount baseball squad absorbs doubleheader loss to Ohio Wesleyan University

The College of Mount St. Joseph ended 2013 Spring Break play in Port Charlotte, FL on Saturday afternoon with a 2-5 mark, after they dropped a doubleheader to Ohio Wesleyan University, 4-3 (in nine innings) and 7-2. The Lions, 3-8 on the season, will be back in action on March 19 when they host Wilmington College at the University of Cincinnati’s Marge Schott Stadium.

Game one against the Bishops today saw the Lions tagged with the setback, when OWU scored in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chase Stevens (Harrison, OH/Harrison) pitched six innings for the Mount, and allowed three runs while recording four strikeouts. Rob Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) led the offense with three hits, including a double.

The Lions went to 1-2 against OWU this season, when they suffered the second game loss. Collin Shaw (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) was tagged with the pitching loss, while the Mount’s offense was held to three hits. Rob Shaw, Taylor Alley (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) and Matt Lakamp (North Bend, OH/Taylor) each had a hit in the game.
