Mount men's lacrosse team falls to .500 with 12-9 home setback to Augustana College

The College of Mount St. Joseph held a two-goal second half lead over visiting Augustana College, but could not hold the lead as they fell in Midwest Lacrosse Conference action, 12-9. With the loss the Lions go to 4-4 overall, 2-1 in the MLC, and will play again on April 3 at Wittenberg University.

Augustana held a 6-5 lead at the half, but saw the Mount comeback in the third quarter, with Peter Thompson (Homewood, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor) scoring a goal to put up the Lions, 8-6 at the 9:34 mark of the third quarter. Augustana would tally six unanswered goals, over a 15-minute time game span to roll to a 12-8 advanatage, with just over 5 1/2 minutes left in the game. The Lions' Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) would produce the last score of the game, with 4:54 remaining in the game, as the Mount suffered its first conference loss this spring.

Will McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) had four goals and an assist to lead the Lions, who also also got two goals each from Andrew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palitine) and Gallagher. Joe Illencik (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) had 13 saves for the Mount. Augustana improves to 5-3, 2-0 with the win. They held a 42-31 edge in shots, including 25-19 in shots on goal, in the game.
