Mount men's lacrosse team drops back to .500 in the MLC with a home loss to Aurora University

Box Score

Midwestern Lacrosse Conference leader Aurora University overcame an early 2-1 deficit as they rolled to an 17-3 win at the Mount on Saturday. The Lions, 4-6 overall, 2-2 in the MLC, return to action on April 10 at Defiance College. Aurora goes to 5-0 in the conference with the win.

Aurora scored first in the game but the Lions bounced back to score the game's next two goals, getting goals from Will McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira) and Patrick McClanahan (Cincinnati, OH/Madeira). Aurora tied the game just before the end of the first quarter, and led 4-2, before the Lions' Ryan Gallagher (Chicago, IL/St. Rita) tallied a goal with 11:58 showing on the second quarter clock to cut the deficit to 4-3. That was the end of the scoring, however, for the Mount, as Aurora held an 8-3 lead at the half and added nine, second half goals.

The Spartans out-shot the Mount, 42-21, including 26-16 in shots on goal. Joe Illencik (Youngstown, OH/Cardinal Mooney) had nine saves for the Mount, which lost its third straight game.
