Mount women's lacrosse team falls at home to MWLC-rival Carthage College

Carthage College coasted out to a 13-1 halftime lead and recorded an 19-4 win over the Mount on Sunday at Schueler Field. The setback ends the Lions' winning streak at three games, and puts the team's record at 5-3 overall, 2-2 in the MWLC. Carthage goes to 6-5, 3-1 in the conference.

The Mount returns to action on April 10 in non-conference play at Otterbein University.

Carthage scored the game's first three goals against the Mount, before Erica Walsh (Louisville, KY/Sacred Heart) scored with just over 20 minutes to play in the first half, to cut the deficit to 3-1. That was all the scoring the Lions would do, until Nicole Sifri (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) scored with 25:58 showing on the second half clock, putting the score at 13-2. Chrissy O'Hara (Cincinati, OH/Mercy) chipped in two second half goals for the Mount.

The Lions were out-shot 44-16 in the game, including 32-15 in shots on goal. Paige Apel (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and Jacqui Tackett (West Chester, OH/Lakota East) combined for 13 saves in goal for the Lions.
