The Lions held a 7-6 halftime lead on Saturday afternoon, and up by a 9-8 margin in the second half, scored seven unanswered goals en route to an 18-11 win over Aurora University. The win propels the Mount's record to 3-4 overall, 2-2 in the MWLC. The Lions will resume action at home on Mar. 23 when they host Trine University.
Samantha Hughes (Cincinnati, OH/Colerain) scored four goals in the first half to help the Lions to a 7-6 lead at the intermission. After a 7-all tie, Chrissy O'Hara (Cincinnati, OH/Mercy) and teammate Courtney Gleason (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) tallied goals within five minutes of each other to give the Mount a 9-8 lead, setting the stage for the seven straight goals, scored by five different players.
Nicole Sifri (Cincinnat, OH/McAuley) scored four goals for the Mount in the game, while Hughes finished with six goals. O'Hara added three goals and three assists. Sami Ives (Erlanger, KY/St. Henry) recorded five saves in goal for the win. The Mount out-shot Aurora, 36-22, including 32-16 in shots on goal.
