Lions' men's lacrosse team claims first win of season with a 7-6 OT decision at Wabash College

The Mount's John Ewing (LaPorte, IN/LaPorte) scored a goal just 2:12 into overtime tonight, off a pass from teammate Drew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palatine), helping the Lions post their first victory of the 2015 season, a 7-6 victory at Wabash College. The Mount, 1-3 on the season, will be action on March at La Roche College. With the loss Wabash goes to 0-5 on the campaign.

The Lions started out with a 2-0 lead, in the first quarter, but saw Wabash tie the game at 2-all before forging ahead 3-2 by intermission, thanks to a goal from the Mount's Connor McPhail (Nashville, TN/Father Ryan), his second of the game. Trey Pinkstock (Wooster, OH/Wooster) and Joey Ely (Centerville, OH/Centerville) added third quarter goals, giving the Lions a 5-3 advantage before Stoffer tallied an early fourth quarter goal, putting the Mount ahead 6-3.

Wabash scored three straight unaswered goals in the foruth quarter, including one with one minute remaining to knot the score at six-all. Ewing fired in the game-winner, however, his second goal of the season, for the Mount nearly halfway through the overtime period.

Mike Weil (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) had 21 saves in goal, playing all 62:12 for the win.
