Lions' women's lacrosse team falls at home to Wittenberg University in season home opener

The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse team opened 2015 home action on March 2, falling to Wittenberg University, 16-1. The Lions, 2-0 overall, return to action on March 4 when they play at the College of Wooster.

The visiting Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 3:38 into the game, before the Mount cut the deficit to 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Nicole Sifri (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley). The Lions would get not closer as they were blanked on the scoreboard the rest of the game. Wittenberg led by an 11-1 score at the half, thanks in part to out-shooting the Lions 16-6 in the first 20 minutes of action. The added five second half goals on 13 more shots, as they held the Mount to just four shots, in the second half.

Katherine Mapes (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) played the entire game in goal for the Lions, recording six saves. Wittenberg had 16 turnovers while the Mount committed 23 turnovers.
