Mount women's lacrosse team posts first win of young season, 15-9 against Waynesburg University

The Mount St. Joseph Lions hosted Waynesburg University tonight for their first home game against an ORLC team this season. The Lions posted a 15-9 score where they had nine goals in the first half and only gave up three. It was the Mount’s first win, putting them 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the ORLC. Waynesburg dropped their record to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the ORLC. The Lions recovered 35 groundballs on the night.

Senior Nicole Sifri (Cincinnati, OH/McAuley) helped lead the way for the Lions, having six shots, all of which were on goal. Sifri finished with four goals on the day, five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Erica Walsh (Louisville, KY/Sacred Heart) also had four goals on the night from her 14 shots, eight of which were on goal. Walsh also caused four turnovers.

Jenna Roberts (Wooster, OH/Wooster) also finished with all of her shots being on goal with five and three total goals. Katherine Mapes (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Country Day) played the whole game in goal, where she had three saves. The Lions out shot Waynesburg 37-15 and caused 21 turnovers.

The next game for the Lions is on Saturday, March 21 at Schueler Field against Capital University.
