The Mount scored three runs in the ninth inning, and added a decisive four runs in the 11th inning on Thursday night, as they recorded a come-from-behind win against Franklin College. The Mount, 11-19 overall, 6-14 in the HCAC, will take on the Grizzlies in a doubleheader at Franklin on April 25.
The Lions grabbed the first lead in the game, scoring a run in the first inning, but Franklin tied the game at one-all in the second inning. The Grizzlies would go on to hold a 4-1 lead by the sixth inning, before the Lions went on their comeback attempt. The Mount plated three runs in their at-bat in the ninth, with the tying run scoring on a groundout by Mike Williams (Cincinnati, OH/Taft). Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the 10th inning, while the Mount scored four times in the frame off two Franklin pitchers. The Lions' were aided by a Franklin error in the inning, as all four runs that they scored were unearned. Kyle Kittle (Lawrenceburg, IN/Lawrencebug) and Corey Reimer (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton Badin) had run-scoring singles in the decisive inning.
Drew Werner (Sunman, IN/East Central) and Zach Farmer (Hamilton, OH/Lakota West) each had two hits, as the Mount collected eight hits in the game. Ronald Cotton (Florence, KY/Boone County) scored two runs and had two RBI while Werner added two runs scored. Farmer pitched four innings of one-hit relief, striking out six batters and gained the win, his first of the season. Franklin College was three-for-19 with runners in scoring position.
