Mount men's lacrosse team ends 2015 season with loss at Hanover College

Host Hanover College raced out to a 11-2 lead at the half, and played strong defense throughout the second half, as they posted a 12-4 ORLC win over the Mount on Saturday. The Lions end the 2015 season with a 4-10 overall mark, 2-4 in the conference. Hanover improved to 7-8 overall, 4-2 in the ORLC.

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game, by the 9:33 mark of the first quarter, before the Lions cut the deficit in half on an unassisted goal by John Ewing (LaPorte, IN/LaPorte) with 9:06 left in the opening quarter. Connor McPhail (Nashiville, TN/Father Ryan) knotted the score at 2-all when he scored off a pass from Andrew Stoffer (Palatine, IL/Palatine) at 5:51 of the first half. That would be the end of the Mount's scoring until the fourth quarter. The Lions were out-shot 30-15 in the first half, including 22-8 in shots on goal. Both teams had 10 shots in the third quarter, but neither would score in that quarter. Ewing added another goal at 13:04 of the final quarter, making the score 11-3, before Hanover tallied their final goal at wiht just under seven minutes to play in the game. Ewing would record his third and final goal late in the game. Stoffer finished with two assists in the game, while goalie Mike Weil (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) had 20 saves.

Hanover held a 53-32 advantage in shots, including 32-15 in shots on goal. The Lions had 26 turnovers in the game, to the Panthers' 20 turnovers.
