Box Score

LOCATION:  UC Health Stadium (Florence, KY)

THE BASICS:
Mount St. Joseph (3-0) hosted Centre College (2-1) at UC Health Stadium, the home of the Florence Freedom and came away with a 9-3 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions sent freshman Austin Richey to the mound, he struggled with command early as he walked the first batter he faced. Centre was able to push 2 runs across the plate in the top of the first.  The Lions though answered in the bottom of the 1st with 3 runs of their own. Designated hitter Mike Williams had a bases loaded, 3 RBI double to give the Lions the lead.

Paul Spaulding gave the Lions 4 solid innings of relief, only surrendering one hit and giving up zero runs. They were able to push runs across the plate in all but 3 innings, never letting their foot come off the gas.

Zach Farmer closed the game for the Lions by striking out the side in the 9th, touching 87 MPH on the radar gun.

UP NEXT
