Box Score

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH (Schueler Field)

BASICS:
The Mount St. Joseph University Women's lacrosse team host ORLC opponent Thomas More College on Wednesday night. The Lion's won 13-1, improving their overall record to 7-7, and conference record to 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Saints started off strong scoring the first and their only goal of the game at the 26:41 mark. The Lion's called a timeout, and once they returned to the field there was no looking back. As Madie Long would add two goals and Courtney Gleason one goal before the half was over.

The second half was nothing but great play for the Lion's. As the first draw went to the Mount and Erica Walsh assisted Long 40 seconds into the half. Walsh would go on to score the next three goals for the Lion's. Walsh and Long would each end up with a total of 4 goals. Gleason assisted 5 goals tying the record of assist in a game and added two goals of her own.

Maria Sams, Kara Marshall and Faith Koehne added the final three goals for the Mount, making the final score 13-1 in favor of the Lion's.

Sams would also record 3 caused turnovers and 4 groundballs.

Walsh tallied 4 goals, 1 assist, 2 groundballs, 3 draw controls, and 5 caused turnovers.

Two veteran defenders made a strong stance in not allowing Thomas More to score after the first minute of the game as Sami Ives and Koehne each had two caused turnovers. Ives scooped up three groundballs, and Koehne with one groundball.

The groundball war was won by the Saints (21-19), but the Lion's committed less turnovers (29-18) and took more shots (26-10).
