Mount Soccer Grinds Out Late Goal to Send Match into Double OT

LOCATION: Toyota Stadium - Georgetown College  (Georgetown, KY)

THE BASICS:  

Mount St. Joseph men's soccer found the back of the net in the 84th minute of regulation to send the match into two overtime periods to eventually tie with NAIA opponent Georgetown College on Wednesday night. With the tie, MSJ still remains without a loss at 2-0-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

MSJ and GC went the entire first half without a goal exchanging a flurry of shots (MSJ-7, GC-6) but no goals were scored when the first half ended. The two teams battled in the second half when the Cougars JT Stephens netted the first goal of the match in the 69th minute, giving GC a 1-0 lead. MSJ compiled six shots in the second half when MSJ's Tyler Schumann scored a goal in the 83rd minute to tie the game just before the final buzzer sounded sending the game into overtime and eventually second OT.

Neither team was able to score in the overtime periods, ending the game in a 1-1 tie. 

Tyler Schumann led the Lions with three shots on goal while goalie Conner Spivey pulled down seven saves.
