Box Score Location: Sears Complex (Bluffton, Ohio)
The Basics:
It was a hard fought game at Sears Complex on Wednesday. The Mount was first to strike, early in the second half, and with another goal that followed. Bluffton was not able to find the back of the net for the game, bringing the Mount's record to 4-7-3 overall, and 1-2-1 in the HCAC.
How it Happened:
The first half was a defensive one, with neither team finding the net. In the second half, at the 47th minute, Seth Freppon (Cold Spring, KY Newport Central Catholic) scored, with the assist coming from Alex Gross (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills). After a few substitutions, the Mount was able score again in the 63th minute. The goal came off the foot of Alex Gross, assisted by Cody Hacker (Cleves, OH / Harrison). This gave the Lions a commanding 2-0 lead with 25 minutes left in the game. Bluffton did not reach the net, but had a total of 10 shots for the game. Mount's goal keeper Will Schwing (Greendale, IN / Lawrenceburg) protected the net well with 6 saves. Neither team recorded a card.
Standouts:
As a whole, the team played very well. The defense held their own and offensively, Alex Gross had a huge impact. Not only did he score a goal but he also assisted on one as well.
Up Next:
The Mount will take on the Franklin Grizzlies at Schueler Field, this Saturday, the 14th. The game starts at 7:30pm and the Lions look forward to continuing their winning ways this weekend.
