Mount St. Joseph men's lacrosse returns to action at Centre

Box Score

The Mount St. Joseph men's lacrosse team got off to a hot start in their first game of the season on Saturday.  Less than a minute into the game the Lions cracked the scoreboard first with a goal coming from Jesse Purdy (Lexington, Kentucky).  Centre tied the game up about halfway through the first quarter of play and went on to take the lead with only :02 remaining in the first quarter.

Kevin McClanahan (Nashville, TN / Father Ryan) was able to give the Lions their second score of the game in the second quarter.  However, the second quarter proved costly for Mount St. Joseph, as they surrendered 8 goals to the Colonels.  The Lions were unable to rebound from their shaky second quarter and they ended up dropping the game by a score of 19-2.

Purdy and McClanahan were two players that played well for Mount St. Joseph Saturday afternoon.  They both were able to score a goal in their first game of the season and look to continue their offensive success as the season rolls on.

Next up for the Lions is another away game at Trine University on Wednesday, March 1st.  The game will begin at 7:30 PM.
