Lions travel to Indiana to face Trine

The Basics:

Mount St. Joseph kept the competition close with some aggressive scoring throughout the game.  The Lions trailed Trine 5-7 going into the half.  They fought hard, but couldn't gain the lead at the end and lost to Trine with a final score of 11-8.

How it Happened:

The Lions started of the game with the first goal about 1 minute into the game coming from Madie Long (Columbus, OH/ Hilliard Davidson).  They were playing aggressive to keep the game close. The team was able to score a couple more goals to take the lead 4-2 over Trine.  The Lions defense then began to struggle as Trine put together five goals with 3:17 left in the first half.  The Lions trailed Trine 5-7 going into halftime.  Trine started the second half with two goals to make the score 9-5.  The Lions tried to put some scoring together with two goals from Kara Marshall (Cleveland, OH/ Laurel) and Madie Long to make the score 7-9. The Lions failed to complete the comeback after Trine connected on two more goals to finish the game with a final score of 11-8. 

Standouts:

There were a few individuals who stood out to produce some offense for the Lions.  Madie Long was able to get to the net three times in the first half.  She finished the game with 4 goals total on 14 shots.  Lainee Studer (Pleasant, OH/ Little Miami) was able to contribute as well with 2 goals on 9 total shots to keep the Lions in the game.
