Box Score Location: Cincinnati, OH (Schueler Field)
The Basics:
Mount St. Joseph took on Hanover at home this past Wednesday on Schueler Field. The game was kept close as both teams were tied 4-4 going into halftime. In the second half the Lions fought hard, but came up just short as Hanover was able to get some timely goals to win the game with a final score of 9-6.
How it Happened:
The game started out with Hanover jumping to a 3-0 lead. The Lions stayed calm and with good defense and excellent teamwork on the offensive end they came back to take the lead 4-3. Kara Marshall (Cleveland, OH/ Laurel) was able to score two goals in the first half to fuel the Lions comeback. The Lions and Panthers went into halftime tied up 4-4 after Hanover tied it up scoring with 11 seconds left in the half.
In the second half it continued to be a competitive game. After being tied at 5-5 the Panthers were able to put together a string of goals to take the lead. They were able to score four goals to take the 9-5 lead over the Lions. The Lions weren't able to get back into the game after that and lost to the Panthers with a final score of 9-6.
Standouts:
The Lions got a lot of production on the offensive end from multiple players. Kara Marshall was able to score twice for the Lions to lead the team. Lainee Studer (Pleasant Plain, OH/ Little Miami) showed great hustle to lead the team with 5 ground balls.
