Lions drop final road game of regular season, eye weekend series against Rose-Hulman

Box Score

Mount St. Joseph traveled to Earlham on Tuesday evening for their last regular season road game of 2017.  The Lions would send lefty Mike Hilliard (Loveland, OH / Clinton-Massie) to the hill to face off against the Quakers.  Hilliard would throw well on Tuesday, going 4 innings, allowing just 5 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 4.

The bullpen and the offense would struggle on Tuesday evening.  The bullpen would work five innings on the day and give up seven runs with five of those being earned.  The offense, on the other hand, would tally seven hits against the Quakers but would only be able to push one run across the plate.

The tough day for the Lions would end in a 10-1 loss to Earlham and would not allow for them to pick up a game on Franklin, who also lost on Tuesday and remain tied with MSJ for fourth in the standings.

LION AT THE PEAK

Roman Rothwell (Monroe, OH / Monroe) was one of the lone bright spots on the day for Mount St. Joseph.  He was able to go 3-3 with two singles and a double.  He also picked up the only RBI for the Lions on the day by knocking a sacrifice fly to center field in the third inning, tying the game at 1-1 at the time.
