The Basics:
The Mount had a rough start to the game at their first conference road game against the Bearcats of St. Vincent. The Mount finished at halftime trailing the Bearcats 14-5. The Lions finished off the game falling to Carroll with a final score of 17-9.
How it Happened:
The Bearcats started with 2 early goals before the Mount got onto the board. Mount senior Courtney Gleason(Cincinnati, OH/Seton) got the team's first goal of the game on a free position shot. The Lions racked up four more goals in the first half. Gleason with one more unassisted and senior Kara Marshall(Cleveland, OH/Laurel) gave the Mount two goals, one assisted by Brianna Brannon(Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and one unassisted. Maria Sams(Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) snuck through and got a free position goal. The Lions ended up with a halftime score of 14-5. When the second half came around the Mount fought through and won the second half with a second half score of 4-3. The Lions held St. Vincent to three goals and scored four more of our own with Gleason gaining three more bringing her game total to five and Marshall collecting one more with and assist from Brannon. Ending the game with a final score of 17-9. Freshman goalie Syd Vinel(Cincinnati, OH/Seton) currently leads the ORLC(Ohio River Lacrosse Conference) in saves with 84. Gleason achieved her 100th point in this game against the Pioneers and took home the game ball.
