Lions are victorious against across the river rivals

The Basics:

 

The Mount St. Joseph University women's lacrosse faced off against the Saints of Thomas More College the unofficial across the river rival of the Lions.  The Mount dominated the field coming up with a halftime score of 12-1 and a final score of 18-2 sealing another conference victory and keeping their 5th place spot in conference.

 

How it Happened:

The Lions came out to play in Wednesday matchup against the Saints of TMC scoring nine goals, a hat trick by Courtney Gleason (Cincinnati, OH/ Seton) and Kara Marshall (Cleveland, OH/ Laurel), and Maria Sams (Cincinnati, OH/ Oak Hills), Brianna Brannon (Cincinnati, Oh/ Seton) and Ashley Mapes (Cincinnati, OH/ Deer Park) each getting on goal.  This was freshman Mapes' first goal of the season and of her college career.  With six minutes left the Saints managed to sneak one into the net. But Gleason was able to grab another pair of goals and Brannon with one more to end the half with a score of 12-1.  

In the second half Gleason started of fast with her sixth and final goal of the game coming within a minute of the whistle.  Thomas More got their second goal early in the second and wouldn't find it again for the rest of the game. The Lions would go on to get another five goals.  Gabriella Halfhill (Liberty Township, OH/ Lakota West) and Marshall would each have two and Brannon would grab her third for the game.  The Mount finished the game victorious with the final score 18-2.

Our Lions will compete in a conference matchup on the road against Waynesburg University Saturday 4/21 at 1:00 pm at John F. Wiley Stadium (Waynesburg, PA).
