The Basics:
Mount St. Joseph wrapped up their 2018 season at home against the Chatham Cougars.  The Lions took time before the game to recognize their four seniors.  The game was kept close early by both teams.  The Mount trailed the cougars at the half 3-2.  The Lions offense struggled in the second half and they were ultimately defeated by Chatham with a final score of 11-5. 
How it Happened:
Mount St. Joseph took some time before the game to congratulate their four seniors.  Mike Weil (Cincinnati, OH/ Elder), Mitch Stecht (Erlanger, KY/ Holy Cross), Matt Stecht (Erlanger, KY/ Holy Cross), and Cameron Mueller (Cincinnati, OH/ Northwest) were escorted onto the field by their friends and family as they reminisced on past memories of their career.
The game started as a defensive contest from both teams.  The Cougars were able to strike first to take the 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.  In the second quarter the Lions were able to get their offense going.  Noah Borgdorf (Bellevue, MI/ Bellevue) was able to get to the net to tie the score for the Lions.  Matt Stecht was able to score again for the Lions to take the lead with only five minutes remaining in the first half.  Chatham was able to get to the net twice before halftime to regain the lead 3-2.  In the second half the Lions struggled to control the Cougars offense.  They went into the final quarter down 5-2 after two goals by Chatham in the third.  The final quarter was full of offensive action.  Jesse Purdy (Lexington, KY/ Dunbar) was able to score two goals to try and keep the Lions in the contest, but Chatham was relentless offensively.  They put up six goals in the fourth to defeat the Lions with a final score of 11-5.
Standouts:
Matt Stecht was able to make an impact, scoring two goals to keep the Lions in the game.  Purdy was also a force offensively in the final quarter.  He finished the day with two goals that he scored in the fourth to try and finish the game strong.
