Box Score 2 Franklin Ind.—After a long, hard fought season the season has came to an end for the Lions. After traveling to Franklin for the first round of the Heartland Conference Tournament, the Mount fell in a best of three series.
GAME ONE: MSJ 7 FC 12
Game one of the three game series was close through six innings of play before Franklin was able to open their lead up. Franklin gained an early 3-0 lead, however the Lions quickly answered with two of their own off of a Josh Hagans two run, home-run.
The top of the fifth saw the Lions tie the game, plating five runs. Tyrell Anderson was able to double in this inning to drive home two runs, along with an Hagans RBI single. While the Lions were able to score three runs off of their own bats, the Grizzlies helped them out a bit allowing two Lions to score on fielding errors and a wild pitch. The top of the fifth tied the game at 7 a piece. After that inning the Lions were unable to score again, while Franklin continued to get hot, ending game one 12-7 win for Franklin.
Hagans and Anderson were both key parts of the Lions keeping game one close. Hagans collected two hits and three RBI's while Anderson registered a double and one RBI.
GAME TWO: MSJ 6 FC 11
Early in game two the Lions fell behind 4-0, leaving them trying to fight their way back into the ball game. In the top of the fourth Anderson was able to single, to drive in the Lions first run of the game. The Lions seemed to have a small rally started when they were once again able to score in the top of the fifth, off of a Ryan Murray double.
Following two scoreless frames the Lions were able to find the score column again, when Hagans doubled, bringing home two Lions. In the top of the ninth Murray came through for the Lions again with a two run double , bringing the Lions total to six. After that hit the Lions were unable to produce anymore runs.
Ryan Murray was huge in the Lions efforts to overcome their early deficit. Murray collected four hits, including two doubles and three RBI's.
