CINCINNATI, Ohio - Your Mount St. Joseph University wrestling team is set to travel to Louisville, Ky. to compete at the NCAA National Duals. The Lions currently are ranked tied for 9th in the nation as a team according to Intermat wrestling.
The Lions currently have two top 10 ranked wrestlers in the country. The first being
Antonio McCloud (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder). McCloud currently holds a 5-0 record including 2 pins and 1 major decision to his credit. McCloud is ranked 6th in the country at 184lbs by both Intermat and NWCA rankings. Our second ranked wrestler is
Cornell Beachem (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) who currently is ranked the best NCAA Division III 174lb wrestler by both Intermat and NWCA rankings. Beachem holds a 6-0 record so far this year with 4 pins and 2 technical fall victories to his name. Both McCloud and Beachem are leaders of the young team hungry for a chance at the National Title.
Sophomore 125lb
Jorden Zigo (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) will be crucial for the Lions early on in duals. So far this season Zigo holds a 7-7 record including 2 pins and 2 major decision victories. Zigo will set the tone for the Lions early. Another key wrestler for the Lions is 141lb
Desmond Diggs (Xenia, Ohio/Xenia). Diggs currently holds a 10-6 record on the year including 1 technical fall and 2 major victories. Diggs can hopefully build on Zigo's success and give the Lions an early advantage. Finally, another key wrestler for the Lions will be
Cameron Sauerwein (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison) Sauerwein this season has posted a 7-4 record including 3 pins, 1 technical fall, and 1 major decision victory. Sauerwein comes in an experienced wrestler hopefully adding a veteran presence to a young Lions team.
