BEREA, Ohio - On Saturday, November 19th your Mount St. Joseph University Lions traveled to Baldwin Wallace to compete at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational. The Lions had 3 wrestlers finish in the top 8 of their weight class. 133lb
Jake Cotsonas placed 8th, 141lb
Desmond Diggs placed 6th and 174lb Skyler Cowgill placed 8th.
Cotsonas dropped his first match but was given the chance to wrestle back in the consolation bracket. Cotsonas did just that grinding out a 9-5 decision victory to move on. But, Cotsonas would drop his next two matches, still earning himself an 8th place finish in the 133lb weight class.
Desmond Diggs was up next for the Lions in the 141lb weight class. Diggs got his day started nicely with a dominant 13-1 major decision victory in the 2nd round after receiving a first round bye. In the quarterfinal match Diggs fell just short in overtime 10-8. But, Diggs wasn't done yet winning his next two matches 6-1 and 8-6 to move on to the Consolation Semifinals. But, Diggs would drop his final two matches earning himself 6th place.
Skyler Cowgill was the final Lion to finish in the top 8. Cowgill dropped his first match in the 174lb weight class in a narrow battle falling 3-4. But, responded nicely in the consolation round with a technical fall 16-1 victory to get back on track. But, Cowgill would drop his final two matches as he finished 8th.
