CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - On Friday, March 11th your Mount St. Joseph University wrestling team will compete in the NCAA DIII National Tournament.
Cornell Beachem and
Antonio McCloud are the pair headed to the national tournament for the Lions both with a common goal, to win a national championship. Both wrestlers were dominant in the regional tournament, neither wrestler lost a match as both claimed Regional Championships.
Beachem enters the national tournament undefeated with a 18-0 record and ranked #1 in the country. Beachem has proven he possesses an unique talent with half of his victories coming via the pin and 3 more via the technical fall. Beachem enters the national tournament as the #1 seed and is set to face the winner of Castleton's Cooper Fleming and Delaware Valley's Yousseff Ait Boulahri.
McCloud enters the tournament with just a single loss to his name with a 18-1 record. McCloud has accumulated 6 pins, 1 technical fall and 6 major victories to stamp his name as a force to be reckoned with. Currently McCloud is ranked the #6 wrestler nationally and received a #6 seed in the national tournament. In the first round McCloud will face off against New York University's Jason Geyer.

Charles Mason were interviewed by WCPO's Mike Dyer. During the interview with Mr. Dyer Coach
Charles Mason said, "Both of these guys are very talented. They're very driven from within. If they do what they're supposed to do, block out the outside noise, I have no doubt that they can win a national title."
The Lions begin wrestling on Friday, March 11th with the first session starting at 11AM. Currently Beachem will be the 69th match of the day followed by McCloud with the 82nd match of the day.
