Box Score 2 Florence, Kentucky—The Mount St. Joseph University Baseball program would play Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe, Rose-Hulman. The Lions carried a (9-15) overall record into the game, while the Fightin' Engineers entered with a (12-7) record into the contest. The Lions would fall in a competitive game one.
Game One: RHIT 3 MSJ 2
After two quiet innings, Rose-Hulman broke through, pushing three runs across. The pitching staff of Rose-Hulman would hold, continuing to hold the Lions scoreless. In the bottom of the sixth Lions Right fielder, Zach McKenna hit a ball hard down the left field line for an RBI single. The game would continue to remain scoreless through the bottom of the ninth.
As the Lions final effort, Joshua Hagans would chop a ball through the middle of the infield to score Jake Lawson from second. This score brought the Lions within one, before a double-play to end the game.
In game one, the Senior Designated Hitter Tyrell Anderson, was phenomenal collecting three total hits. The pair of Lawson and Hagans each finish with two hits, while Hagans finished with one RBI. McKenna turned in a one for three performance recording an RBI single.
In game two the Lions surrendered 15 runs in route to a tough 15-1 loss. Hoping to rebound on Friday against Defiance College.
Following this double header, the Lions will prepare for another Heartland Opponent in Defiance College. This game will take place on Friday, April 16 at Florence, Kentucky.
