HARRISON, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph University women's golf program got their 2022-23 season underway this weekend by winning their home tournament the Stateline Shootout at Miami Whitewater Golf Course. Despite the weekend's inclement weather in the area, the Lions put together a solid weekend to take the championship by 27 strokes over second place Muskingum. In her first action in the blue and gold of Mount St. Joseph sophomore
Amy Smith was the medalist, firing in a tournament-low round of 83 outpacing a trio by just one shot.
Just behind Smith in the standings were a pair of Lions as sophomor
Taylor Anderson and senior
Patricia Windholtz both finished with 11 over par 84's on their scorecard. All five of the Lions who competed as a part of the team finished inside the top-10 as sophomore
Alyssa Haverstraw and junior
Taylor Shumard carded an 88 and 90 respectively.
All told the Lions put together a team score of 339 to outpace the competition.
On the individual side it was a pair of freshman in
Aly Perry and
Emma Winland who performed the strongest, each tying for 10th overall with a score of 90.
The Mount will take to the course again next weekend as they head to Lexington, Ky. to take part in the Transylvania Invitational.
