BEREA, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph wrestling team finished 7th at the 2024 Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
Senior
Desmond Diggs led a group of six Lions that placed in the event, finishing first at 141lbs. Diggs went 5-0 in the event, winning his first two matches by tech fall, his second two by major decision and the title in a 10-3 decision.
Fellow senior
Dylan Deck finished in third place at 165lbs. Deck dropped his first match of the tournament but was fantastic in wrestle-backs. He would win five consecutive matches in the consolation bracket including a major decision victory in the third place match.
Coach Mason's crew had a pair of placers at 133lbs, fifth-year
Jorden Zigo finished sixth and freshman
Bryce Sears finished seventh. The two actually squared off in the consolation bracket with Zigo taking the match in an 8-3 decision.
Sophomore
Jermaine Poynter finished in sixth place at 197lbs and freshman
Randall Wilson finished eighth at 285lbs to round out the Lions who placed in the event.
