Justin Tereshko Has Been Hired to Head MSJ Golf Program

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Mount St. Joseph University has a new leader for its golf programs. Announced by MSJ Director of Athletics Melanee Wagener, the Mount has hired Justin Tereshko as head men's and women's golf coach.

It will be a return to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for Tereshko. Coach Tereshko attended Transylvania University, where he was a standout player for the Pioneers. During his playing career at Transy, he twice earned All-America honors and helped lead the team to four straight HCAC titles. He has also been enshrined in the Transylvania Athletic Hall of Fame.

After graduating from Transylvania, he immediately began his coaching career. His first role was at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. While at Huntingdon, he served as the head coach of the women's golf team and the interim head coach of the men's team. Following his time at Huntingdon, he returned to the Midwest, working as a graduate assistant at DePauw University. While in this role, he earned his master's degree in recreation and sports management from Indiana State.

He then moved south to Guilford College, serving as the head men's golf coach. He spent four seasons there, leading the team to three Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships and three appearances in the NCAA national tournament, finishing as the national runner-up in 2017.

Following his time at Guilford, he spent two seasons as an assistant for the men's team at the University of Louisville. He then returned to the HCAC for a season as the head coach of both the men's and women's programs at Hanover.

His most recent position was at Eastern Kentucky University, where he spent three seasons.

Coach Tereshko also continues to have an outstanding amateur golf career as a player. In 2023, he became just the second person to win the Kentucky Open and the Kentucky Amateur Championship in the same year. He qualified for the 123rd U.S. Amateur after finishing in second place in the USGA Qualifier, earning a spot in the main event at Cherry Hills, Colorado.

"I am so grateful for the faith that Melanee and Joe have put in me to lead both the men's and women's golf programs," said Coach Tereshko. "I am beyond excited and thrilled to work for two wonderful people! I cannot wait to get started at The Mount!"
