CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Mount St. Joseph Lions returned home Wednesday night to face a strong non-conference opponent in Ohio Wesleyan, ultimately falling in straight sets. Despite the 3-0 loss, the Lions showed competitive flashes in the first two sets and continued to battle with intensity in front of their home crowd.
MATCH ONE: MSJ 0 – OHIO WESLEYAN 3 (18-25, 21-25, 9-25)
The Lions came out with energy in the opening frames, challenging the Battling Bishops in back-and-forth stretches and staying within striking distance through the first two sets. Senior Hannah Graves led the Mount offensively, recording nine kills on 32 swings and adding eight digs in a steady two-way performance.
Freshman setter Ava Moore totaled 11 assists, helping guide the offense and continuing to gain valuable experience as a first-year starter. On the defensive end, sophomore libero Lyndsey Stephenson anchored the back row with 14 digs, providing consistent coverage and leadership throughout the match.
Though the third set slipped away quickly, the Lions continued to fight, showing resilience and effort across the court. With a mix of leadership and developing young talent, the Mount remains focused on growth as they return to conference play.
