CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Mount St. Joseph men's volleyball team has been picked to finish eighth in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) this season in the league's annual preseason coaches poll released today.
The Lions finished sixth in the MCVL a season ago, after posting an 11-15 overall record and a 3-5 record in MCVL play. Entering the third year under coach
Eric Santiago Garcia the Lions will look to improve on that record and push to make a run to the MCVL postseason tournament.
The will do so while replacing both of their all-league players from a season ago in setter
Ben Carmosino and middle
Ryan Bollhauer. A trio of Lions were named as key players by the MCVL, and Coach Santiago Garcia will be looking to that group and others to take a step forward in 2026. Sophomore outside
Carson Reed and his 295 kills as a freshman will be the team's key offensive threat on the outside. Sophomore libero
Sean Murray will anchor the defense again for the team and junior
Roger Wilcox, who was third on the team in kills in 2025 will patrol the middle.
The Lions will be leaning on their senior class, and looking for them to provide production and leadership this season. The group of
JJ Rennekamp,
Luke Dwire,
Jude Lewis and
Nicholas Shellman will all look to lead the otherwise young group of Lions this season.
When asked about his team Coach said, "We are very excited to enter the 2026 season with this group. This young core is hungry for success and growth. The preseason gave us alot of insight into the new possibilities and exciting opportunities we can pursue with this talent!"
The Lions open the 2026 season on January 9, 2026 with a tri-match in Angola, Indiana were they will take on Lakeland University and Trine University.
