Men’s Volleyball Goes 2-0 at Home in Cristina Webb Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Mount St. Joseph University men's volleyball team opened the Cristina Webb Invitational with a successful home doubleheader Saturday afternoon, earning wins over Greenville University and Franklin College inside the Harrington Center. The Lions showcased depth, balance, and composure to finish the day undefeated on their home court.

MATCH ONE: MSJ 3 – GREENVILLE 0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16)
Mount St. Joseph set the tone early in the opening match of the invitational, controlling the pace and executing efficiently to secure a straight-set victory over Greenville University. The Lions remained steady throughout the contest, pulling away late in each set behind strong serving and consistent offensive production.
Sophomore Carson Reed led the way with nine kills on 20 total attempts while also contributing 10 digs on defense. Freshman Jimmy Steinriede made an immediate impact, recording nine kills on 19 attempts to provide a strong presence at the net. Sophomore Brayden Bass anchored the offense with 29 assists while distributing the ball effectively across the lineup. Bass also added four service aces, helping the Lions maintain pressure and disrupt Greenville's offensive rhythm.

MATCH TWO: MSJ 3 – FRANKLIN 1 (25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22)
The Lions carried their momentum into the second match of the day, earning a four-set victory over the Franklin Grizzlies in a competitive matchup. The Lions showed resilience after dropping the third set, regrouping to close out the match in the fourth. Senior Jude Lewis powered the offense with a team-high 15 kills, providing leadership and consistency throughout the match. Sophomore Carson Reed continued his strong day, finishing with 10 kills, three service aces, and 10 digs to contribute on both sides of the ball. Junior Roger Wilcox added nine kills, giving the Lions another reliable scoring option. Brayden Bass once again directed the offense efficiently, tallying 34 assists while also contributing nine digs defensively. In the back row, sophomore libero Sean Murray anchored the defense with 13 digs, helping extend rallies and limit Franklin's scoring opportunities.
With the pair of victories, the Lions improve their record while gaining valuable momentum early in the season.

UP NEXT: Mount St. Joseph will open conference play at home on Thursday, February 20th, hosting Calvin University inside the Harrington Center. First serve is scheduled for 7 PM as the Lions look to carry their momentum into their conference opener.
