CLIFTON, Ohio - Mount St. Joseph University athletes are the true definition of student-athletes. Madison Taylor (women's volleyball) and
Kerigan Pollard (women's soccer) are the latest to prove the MSJ athletes excel on the court or field and in their respective fields of study. Both women who are senior Art Education majors, won awards during the the Summerfair 2025 Emerging Artist Exhibition.
The event is held annually as juniors and seniors from local universities are nominated by their professors, and judged by Summerfair as they are given the opportunity to exhibit their work amongst their peers.
This year's event was held at the Clifton Cultural Art Center and during the opening reception both Taylor and Pollard were given top awards.
Taylor received the prestigious Jerry Bollen Award, juror Terri Kerns stated, "The Jerry Bollen Award was created by Heather Bollen in memory of her father, who was an engaged art lover and collector. He would visit Summerfair every year with his family. Their strong family connection was echoed by the work and the words of Madison Taylor, who's family connections are evident in her heart-felt and intimate photographs."
Pollard was awarded the Best of Show award, Kerns commented on her trio of beautifully shot and presented photographs saying, "They captured my emotions immediately and made me curious about the world she documented in her work."
MSJ Vice President and Director of Athletics
Melanee Wagener said about the awards, "I am so incredibly proud of these two women, our athletes are so talented on the field of competition and off the field as well! I cannot wait to see the exhibit for myself!"
