MT. GILEAD, North Carolina- The Mount St. Joseph women's golf team traveled south to take part in the Jack Ingram Invitational hosted by Pfeiffer Invitational. It was the first tournament for the Lions under new head coach Justin Tereshko and the Lions picked up right where the left off in the fall.
Senior Aly Haverstraw entered the weekend as the #93 ranked woman in D-III, won the event. She opened the event with a first day +4 over par 76, going into Monday with a one stroke lead. She followed that up with a 2 over par 74, the lowest round of the event to win the tournament by 5 strokes. The win moved her up to #78 in the national rankings.Â
All told the Lions had four players finish in the top-10 of the event.
Taylor Anderson finished with a two day total of 161 and a tie in third place.
Amy Smith was just one stroke behind in a tie for fifth, shooting up the leader board four spots with a 4-over second round. First-Year
Debra Brogan rounded out the Lions in the top-10, finishing in a tie for seventh. Brogan fired in a second round 7-over, climbing nine spots on day two.Â
The Lions entered the tournament as the #52 ranked team in all of D-III and after the win moved up to #49, and are currently ranked #6 in the Great Lakes Region.Â
