Box Score CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Mount St. Joseph University men's soccer team fell to the Asbury Eagles on Wednesday night by a score of 5-1 at Schueler Field.
The Eagles struck early, finding the back of the net within the first two minutes to take a 1-0 lead. However, the Lions responded with energy and pressure, creating chances and forcing Asbury onto the back foot. In the 26th minute, MSJ was awarded a penalty after drawing a foul in the box. Presley Boyle converted the kick, marking his first career goal in a Lions uniform and leveling the score at 1-1.
Asbury regained the lead just before halftime with a goal in the 43rd minute, sending the Lions into the break trailing 2-1. The Eagles would add an early second-half goal to extend their lead, and tacked on two more as the match wore on to secure the 5-1 win. Despite the result, MSJ showed flashes of strong play throughout the match. The Lions recorded ten total shots, including four on target.
