Lions' men's soccer team falls in regular season finale, 2-1 to Manchester College

Visiting Manchester College scored the go-ahead goal today at the 68th minute mark and held off a furious late comeback to defeat the Mount, 2-1 on Senior Day. The Lions, 7-11 overall, 5-4 in the HCAC, will make their first-ever appearance in the HCAC Tournament on Nov. 1 when they play at second-seeded Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Mount finished the season as the number three seed for the tournament. Fourth-seeded Earlham College will play at top seeded Transylvania University in the other semifinal match-up. The winners will advance to the HCAC Tournament Championship Game on Nov. 5 (to be played at the highest remaining seed).

James Maguire (Louisville, KY/Trinity) scored the tying goal today against the Spartans, before the visitors notched the go-ahead score. The Mount out-shot the Spartans, 19-13 in the game, with each team recording eight shots on goal. Tyler Kenyon (Cincinnati, OH/Mariemont) had six saves in goal for the Lions. The Mount held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Tim Pope (Cincinnati, OH/Elder), the team's lone senior this season, was honored at halftime.
