Mount men's soccer squad drops 2-1 double overtime decision to Averett College

Averett College's Richard Bjornander scored in the second overtime tonight, breaking a 1-1 tie, to send his team to a 2-1 season-opening win against the Mount in the first round of the Frostburg State University Tournament. The Lions (0-1) will resume action on Sept. 3 against John Jay College in the consolation game of the tournament.

James Hice got the Lions on the scoreboard first in the game when he scored off a pass from teammate Christopher Corbett in the 57th minute of action. Averett College tied the game less than a minute later. The Mount's Tyler Kenyon played the entire game in goal, recording three saves.

Averett College out-shot the Lions, 12-11 but the two teams each totaled five shots on goal.
