HOW IT HAPPENED
Anderson University dominated the Lions in the first quarter, scoring three goals in the opening minutes. Coach Rudy Argueta must have given his players a good pep talk at halftime, because they came out to play.
DeWitt Cook started the rally for the Lions, scoring the first goal for the Mount. Shortly following the goal, Teddy Kerr scored a goal seven minutes later to cut the deficit to one goal. With time winding down the Lions were looking for opportunities to get that game tying goal. The Mount finally got its break when Tyler Schumann fired in a shot off a Zach Kuebler pass in the 89 minute of the game.
The game went into overtime with no teams scoring. A lot of shots were taken by both teams, with the Lions outshooting the Panthers 26-21 for the match.
STANDOUTS
Cody Hacker started the game for the Lions and accumulated five shots on the day with an assist on the Kerr goal. Cody Kappes came off the bench to play in goal in the early minutes of of the first half and having five saves and letting up one goal.
