WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania – The Mount St. Joseph wrestling team hit the road for their second tournament of the 2025-26 season, competing at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational and finishing 10th overall in a deep and competitive field.
The Lions saw strong performances across multiple weight classes, beginning with Dakota Phillips at 125 lbs. Phillips put together a 3-2 day that included a win by fall. At 133 lbs, Bryce Brown and Reid Prenger each battled to 2-2 records. Brown secured both of his victories by major decision, while Prenger added a tech fall to his tournament résumé.
Juan Gutierrez went 1-2 at 141 lbs with his victory coming by fall, and Cahiel Linton turned in an impressive 3-2 performance at the same weight, earning two falls and a tech fall. At 149 lbs, Xavier Woods went 1-2 with a tech fall win.
In the middle weights, Issac Leppert finished 2-2 with a fall at 165 lbs, and Troy Myers delivered one of the Lions' top outings of the day, going 4-2 with two falls and a major decision. Brayden Kuhling went 1-2 at 174 lbs, while McCaden Skeens added a fall during his 1-2 effort at 184 lbs.
The Lions were dominant at 285 lbs, amassing a combined 14 victories in the heavyweight bracket. Sergio Pacheco Ortiz and Donovan Gayle each posted strong 5-1 records, finishing fifth and sixth respectively. David Maher and Dominic Marr added to the heavyweight success with matching 2-2 performances, each recording a fall.
Mount St. Joseph will take a week off before returning to action on November 22 at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
